This past Saturday Souper Sensational ran in the Fair Grounds Oaks, one of the final preps for the Kentucky Oaks on April 30th. Getting back to her traditional running style, Souper Sensational led for through the first six furlongs, with favorite Travel Column close behind.
Turning for home, Travel Column took the lead but Souper Sensational battled gamely with her. In the final eighth, Clairiere passed Souper Sensational to finish second, and Souper Sensational finished third.
From the connections of Souper Sensational after the race, the filly will be pointed to the Kentucky Oaks. Getting back to her running style, and the jockey change to John Velasquez seemed to make a big difference for the filly. My personal thoughts are that the Oaks will be a big try at the longer Mile and an Eighth distance, and if it seems to much for her, she will be pointed for races at sprint to mile distances. She is a big time filly with many graded stakes in her future.
